Bristol Rail revisited.
Everybody’s talking about I-81 expansion and including moving some of the freight from tractor-trailers to rail to reduce traffic on the Interstate, but I don’t see articles about moving cars and passenger traffic to the rails. Let’s not forget that we can upgrade the rails and move SOME of the freight and SOME of the travellers to the rail.
I had the blessing of riding AMTRAK from Washington DC to Boston (and back) this last week and loved it. I spent the extra bucks for Busness Class on my son’s recommendation, and it was well worth it. We took the regional train – the one that stops everywhere – and I still loved it.
In Boston we rode the commuter train for about 18 miles. Nice ride. Definitely commuter, but more comfortable and easier to use than I thought (except early Sunday morning, but let’s keep the entry short.)
Don’t forget passenger rail service to Bristol. They’re working on the roof to the train station, so at long last, we’re seeing progress. A passenger train by the newly remodeled station would look nice.
